A World of Denim, 2014 |
This project has been a huge learning curve and I feel extremely proud of what Cat, Adele and I have achieved in such a short time frame. Our concept focused on denim as material and the impact it has on our culture and society, which lead to our design of a giant denim ball to represent the energy or the material. Making the piece was challenging and working out the logistics and technicalities of making it safe, durable and transportable was different to my usual way of working. However I enjoyed having an definite outcome to work towards achieving and feel this way of working drives my productivity and motivation. We had to think on our feet and use our initiative in order to hit the deadline and not go over budget (we had £19 left over!). Cat, Adele and I worked very well together and used our individual skills and strengths making an excellent team. I enjoyed working on this scale for an art installation context and would like to work on this kind of project again. Above is a short film I put together with some footage I recorded on the day.
